Venue
'It was essential we found the correct location to put on the end of year show. It was up to us to find it, negotiate a lease, fundraise and organise the whole event. It was great fun and the experience has lead to the development of further events'. (Student)
Building the exhibition
From a big open space to the final end result, students were responsible for sourcing, costing and generating the funds to purchase materials. The build was a professional undertaking with a highly qualified technical overview and supervision.
Private View
The event was extremely well attended and was opened by the Mayor (cllr James Hakewill) who gave an insightful and motivating speech which is relevant and underpinned what Gallery202 is now achieving.
Other VIP guests included established artists and educators that were impressed to see a vibrant and interesting exhibition.
What the public thought
From an exhibitors perspective the attendance couldn't have been better. It was encouraging to hear so many positive comments and people engaged in the work.
The people of Kettering and further afield became involved with this contemporary art project in their borough.
